“Rugged” is a great way to describe this trailer! If there is a heavy load to haul the SDL is the trailer for the job! It has been designed to add a Jeep and Booster enabling it to distribute its weight across a longer distance. This trailer can be ordered to accommodate either a tandem or tridrive tractor.
A short neck with two king pin positions is coupled with a 25’ working deck length. A long neck with three king pin positions is coupled with a 23 ½’ working deck length.
The area between the main rails at the neck are enclosed with a staircase leading from the main deck up to the neck area, providing a safe access to the king pin area for both the fixed and flip-over section.
Deck and beavertail are 10’ wide to accept loading of wide equipment.
Lights at rear of trailer are mounted below the level of the beavertail and are protected by a thick flange above the lightbox. The air and electrical connections are also recessed below ramp level protecting them from potential damage.
Design of the beavertail main rail allows track equipment to break over onto the deck sooner without “crashing” forward. Permits a safer more controlled loading.
The trailer can be pulled by a truck alone or it can accommodate a "jeep with neck extended.
Four-rail, high strength flanges and webs with 10" I-beams set at 24" o.c. crossmembers under 2.5" fir planking will hold a 50 ton load uniformly distributed over 15'.
The king pin has a large handle on the top, making it easy to move it to one of the alternate positions.
Outside bolsters between wheels are supported between the main beams with a matching full-dimension fabricated beam. Boxed structure prevents the outer bolsters from collapsing under weight of equipment being loaded.
The fixed beavertail is manufactured to accept the hook-up of a booster, complete with air and electrical connections.
