Engineering Technologist
The Engineering Technologist supports the company engineering function with thorough, practical engineering in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops product designs that fit the requirements laid out for a specific project. Supports the design process within the company by performing appropriate analysis where such analysis is needed.
- Provides engineering support for the pneumatic and electrical systems needed for our trailer product lines. This will include pneumatic systems for air brake and air suspensions used on all Lode King trailers.
- Learns and maintains a strong working knowledge of Transport Canada regulations and rules that impact the company’s product lines, as well as provincial and state laws and regulations in use in our industry.
- Prepares CAD models and drawings of assigned products and/or projects using the hardware and software tools provided by the company. Follows company systems for controlling design information, such as Engineering Change Orders (ECO), engineering reports, and In Process Engineering Change (IPEC) documents.
- Works diligently to maintain a detailed knowledge of the company’s product lines, designs and features based on existing information. Applies this knowledge to assigned projects. Works to develop and maintain a base of knowledge from experience and feedback from dealers and customers related to product designs. Works diligently to learn about industry standards and practices and then maintains currency in this area.
- Provides support to maintain the company ISO9001 quality system as requested by the Director of Engineering.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Engineering program and eligible for APEGM registration or a Diploma in Engineering Technology and a certified technologist (CET) through Certified Technicians and Technology Association of Manitoba (CTTAM).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the engineering field is preferred. Experience in the trailer or heavy truck industry is an asset.
- A strong understanding of welding characteristics and design details required.
- Proficient in the use of Solid Works CAD an asset.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Motivated self-started with a high level of initiative and ability to work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Manufacturing background an asset

Quality Inspector/Support
The Quality Inspector/Support person supports the Quality Manager in activities to maintain and improve Lode King Quality processes. Such activities support manufacturing processes, inspection methods, data collection, data analysis, and detailed documentation established to meet Lode King policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supports the quality program in inspections and data collection, analysis and verifying of quality standards.
• Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the ISO 9001 requirements, through policies, procedures, processes and documentation.
• Investigation of non-conformance to determine root causes and developing/implementing corrective action with follow-up as required.
• Support operators and supervisors of defect identification and recommending corrective actions.
• Conduct gage calibrations and evaluate results.
• Help maintain records and support quality program.Qualifications:
• Proven ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Must be able to develop solutions to complex problems.
• Strong verbal, technical writing and interpersonal communication skills.

Transport Trailer Technician
The Transport Trailer Technician will be certified to service, repair, assemble and maintain transport trailers as registered under The Highway Traffic Act. This position works in our Final Finish Bay and performs all final relevant assembly and tire alignments for trailers using a variety of hand and power tools, including checking and adjusting of assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fit and assemble prefabricated or purchased parts to trailer
- Move and align subassemblies and components
- Completes wheel alignments
- Inspect parts, subassemblies and finished product to ensure quality
- Complete all final Provincial Safety checks and completion of all applicable paperwork and signoffs
- Reviews and follows all work-specific assembly instructions and part-specific engineering information, set-up information and/or related work instructions to understand appropriate work process and quality requirements for completed product
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly lift and or move up to 30 lbs, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
- Will be required to be on feet most of the day, reach within hands and arms length, stoop, kneel and crouch
- Frequently exposed to vibration through the use of hand and power tools
- Physically demanding
Core Competencies:
- Excellent use of the English language, both verbal and written
- Should be a certified Transport Trailer Technician or Mechanic; will need to be certified under MPI to complete the final safety checks
- Ability to read and use measuring devises like tape measures and basic math knowledge
- Proficient in computerized systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including excel, word and MS outlook

Industrial Electrician
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Electrician participates in all phases of maintenance troubleshooting, repairs, new installs, and maintains plant machinery, equipment and machine tools.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and troubleshoot plant facilities, complex production equipment including electrical, electronic and pneumatic systems to optimum operating efficiency
• Diagnose and correct malfunctions, modify, calibrate and test, power panels, CNC, time clock and communication systems, machining centers, overhead crane, forklifts, controls and programmable equipment controls
• Prevent equipment failure through analysis, parts replacement and care of machinery by means of an approved maintenance program
• Installation of new machines and equipmentQualifications:
• Possess an Electrician Red Seal Certification, with an Industrial Electrician Certification being preferred
• Experience working as a journeyperson Electrician; maintenance within a manufacturing environment an asset
• Proven mechanical troubleshooting and strong problem-solving skills is required
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret manuals and OEM specs
• Strong interpersonal skills, be a team player and have the ability to work with minimal supervisionPhysical Requirements:

Welders
Welders have a primary responsibility of MIG welding of steel or aluminum components and parts in a manufacturing production line. You will weld components together using welding knowledge and techniques/symbols using blueprints and shop work instructions.
Responsibilities:
- Create quality welds according to blueprints and drawings using MIG welding procedures
- Clean and prepare parts for welding
- Work with tolerance, maintain high quality welds and inspect welds for accuracy
- Change wire and gas tanks as required
- Maintain safe work procedures
- Troubleshoot and problem solve weld issues
Qualifications:
- All applicants for this position are subject to an internal welding test
- You must have good hand-eye coordination and the ability to perform quality workmanship
- Previous experience welding in a manufacturing environment
- High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
- All welders at Lode King are required to be CWB tested and obtain tickets specific to the company’s needs

Trailer Outfitting
Lode King trailers are manufactured and completely assembled in-house. Outfitting tasks will consist of installing prefabricated parts, air brake/suspension components, plumbing airlines, wiring harnesses/lights, wheels/tires etc.
Responsibilities:
- Uses hand tools, power tools, equipment to assemble/fabricate parts according to specifications on flat deck and/or grain trailers
- Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products
Qualifications:
- Must know how to read a tape measure and convert simple measurement
- Experience with hand and air/power tools
- Mechanical assembly and previous manufacturing experience as asset
- Self motivated and time managements skills
- Safety oriented

Trailer Assembly
Our assembly team follow blueprints to build metal trailers from prefabricated parts, including tasks such as: drilling, bolting, and riveting together metal sheeting, upright frames, bottom and top bars, using pneumatic and hydraulic hand tools and machines.

- Sanding and buffing trailers before and after the trailer is primed and painted
